Healthcare
Medical and Therapy Facilities
Health care is a vital service in any community. For people with developmental and cognitive disabilities, regular access to healthcare and therapies is essential. The science and practice of behavioral, occupational, physical, speech, and hearing therapies are expanding rapidly specifically in areas administered for I/DD patients. The burgeoning of these health services is being realized in major markets across the USA as legislators pass laws to reimburse services. Programs have proven effective in improving the quality of life and in helping to manage personal impairments that often prevent independence. However, these new treatments are putting a lot more burden on parents and caregivers, causing additional stress and issues with coping.
We are working with healthcare providers on formalizing health programs that support the holistic needs of people with cognitive disabilities in an environment that is welcoming and comforting. These activities are re-examining requirements of new medical facilities and therapy centers in all areas of healthcare.
